![]() I am still reeling from the yesterday’s (9/29/2015) Inquisition of Cecile Richard's. The Inquisition was brought to you by American's United For Life. AUL is the legal wing of the anti-choice movement and Charmaine Yoest, its President and CEO for the past three years, are the players behind the bills for pre-abortion ultra-sounds, trans-vaginal ultrasounds, forced viewing of an ultra-sound, abortion waiting periods, parental notification, required viewing of state established anti-choice websites, re-defining gestation time, the question of fetal pain, abortion causes breast cancer lies, required pro-life counseling, and clinic regulations so restrictive that clinics have to close their doors. AUL is to reproductive freedom what ALEC is climate change, unions, and education, and like ALEC successfully chips away at federal law at the state level. Where there’s lot’s of anti-choice, there’s lot’s of ALEC. I don't use the word “Inquisition” lightly. The word brings to mind religion and that is exactly what is driving the anti-choice movement. Anti-choice women are busy imposing their ways and their will on the tribe of women and clearly think they are doing God’s work. Anti-choice men are simple exercising their Judeo-Christian prerogative to control women. And all of this is done under the guise of protecting women because we’re too stupid to recognize that Planned Parenthood is the big, bad wolf. Yesterday's questions made about as much sense as the dunking stools used during the witch trails. Women, who were accused of being a witch, were strapped to a dunking stool and lowered into the water. If the woman sank or drowned she wasn't a witch. Uh hello, she was strapped to a stool. The Inquisition did its best to strap Cecile Richards and Planned Parenthood to one lie after another. They failed. Cecile Richards handled herself with intrinsic grace and intelligence and the inquisitors came across as the sanctimonious bullies they are. As election 2016 approaches, progressives need to pay as much attention to state elections as to the presidential. It's not going to do much good to have a president that truly represents the needs of the people if we continue to have the same Congress as we have today. Indeed, there will be no change at all. Live loud, love fierce, and suffer no fools.
